We set ourselves free like a pie in the sky The script is now flipped and I can't get a grip We set out to find an invisible sign A mortal cascade, an eternal parade You were only part of inside out More sides than two to a coin toss Separate from nothing really Integrate with nothing totally Drop nonsense, save your own life You were only part of inside out More sides than two to a coin toss Separate from nothing really Integrate with nothing totally We set ourselves free like a pie in the sky

Why? Why aspire to live in peace and lust? Last mote of dust

about

Occult Stereo has always been about free collaboration, but the "Free Roam Syndrome" single / two-song EP is actually 'solo' (i.e. all instruments played by Alex).

The album was engineered, mixed, and mastered by Alex during a massive upheaval & transatlantic relocation. It captures a vibe and tension of uncertainty, while embracing forward momentum and rebirth.

This EP - and particularly "Zero Sum" - was created & released using just a few readily available instruments and studio tools (while most of Distant Spore Audio is still at sea).

If there is any theme, it’s a universally-felt longing for freedom ("Free Roam Syndrome") or an energetic explosion of ecological angst ("Zero Sum").

The cover art photo was taken in Point Reyes, CA circa 2015. It is a gorgeously odd and mind-bending mask, the artist/creator of which is unknown.
